Living Across The Pond

*WARNING*: if you haven’t already read the fabulous ‘Billy & Me‘, then there may be a few spoilers in this review.

alwaysWe last left Sophie living happily in  Rosefont Hill with her man Billy, however at the start of ‘Always with Love‘ (by Giovanna Fletcher), we find her in L.A, over the pond for Christmas and staying with Billy and his family.

Finding it hard to fit into the American lifestyle and to fit into Billy’s family, Sophie is missing Rosefont. Struggling to cope with the American press and Billy’s controlling mother she’s looking very much forward to stepping back into her teashop in her own home town with Billy by her side.

However, (here comes the twist), when Billy’s mother persuades him to meet with a movie director and he has to stay in L.A. Sophie is sent back to Blighty on her own, to be greeted by Molly’s son Peter, of whom she makes a great friendship with and well let’s just say things may be taken too far.

With a head full of confusion and worry Sophie struggles with her relationship being spread so far apart, the press not helping of course, when Sophie doesn’t know whether to believe the stories written about her boyfriend so far away.

If you enjoyed ‘Billy & Me’, you’ll adore ‘Always with Love’. Giovanna’s writing style has definitely matured in this book, it was one that I didn’t want to finish, wanting it to last forever. By now you will be in love with the characters and can perhaps identify with them in one way or another and will like me will be disappointed with the fact that there’s no more left to read about them. If Giovanna writes a sequel to this, I along with many others will have a huge smile on my face!
